Have you changed your Broadband Server or got a new Static IP? Then you have to setup those IPs newly. That is why, in this content, we are going to discuss how you can change the IPv4 address for PC.

By using this method you will use a different server to surf the internet. It is needed if you want to change your IP address but this does not change your country location.

Note: The DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) setup in Windows will request every time a new IP address when the device is booted up. But, for Static IP setup, you have to change it manually.

For All Version of Windows 7, Windows 8 & Windows 10

Go to “Network and Sharing Center” which you will find inside Control Panel or you can simply click on Internet Connection icon which normally shows at the right corner of your computer(bottom side) or you can also search by clicking on the windows start button and search there.

After that here you will see “Change Adapter Settings” option, click on it. Then right-click on the 'Local Area Connection' and then click 'properties'.

Here you will see IPv4 or 'Internet Protocol version 4'. Just double-click on it to select then click on properties.

Here you will find IP address box and other boxes like Subnet mask, Default gateway. Just fill all the details as provided by ISP. Then press OK button.

After that, close the Local area connection properties window. Then, Windows will run a network diagnostics and will verify if the connection is good. If you face any problem then you could run the network troubleshooting wizard.

Still, if you want to assure that, then just open command prompt and type “ipconfig” (without using quotations) and hit the Enter button from Keyboard. Here it will display your new IP address.

This needs approval from ISP to work with that IP.

Change your IP Address with CMD in DHCP Mode

To change your IPv4 address you can also use your command prompt to change this but this method only works only for windows users. This setup works only when it is done via DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) configuration.

In that case, your computer should be connected directly to a cable or DSL modem.

So, to do this method follow these steps which are shown below--

At first, click on Windows start button then search CMD. Now you will find cmd in your search result. Simply right-click on it and then select "Run as Administrator" to open the DOS window. You can also press Windows button + R then search cmd and press Enter or OK button.

Now type “ipconfig/release” (Do not use quotation mark) then hit Enter button.


Then type “ipconfig/renew” (Do not use quotation mark) then press Enter button once again.


After that, you will see your new IP address and now you are able to do any work whatever you want to do.

So, it is a very easy method to change Static IP in Windows. In this way, you can easily change your IPv4 address on your PC.
