Create Bootable USB Drive on Windows 7
Is your bootable CD or DVD not working for completing your PC format? This may be due to two reasons either for damaged CD/DVD or the driver issue.

But, forget this...

You have another way to format your PC using Pen drive or Flash drive. That is why you need to create a bootable USB drive.

The best thing is.

It is safer than a DVD drive format.

To make bootable pen drive or USB drive you just need at least 4 GB pen drive or USB drive. But you can also use a larger capacity USB drive. So, here are two methods are given to complete the procedure. Just follow those below--

Make Bootable USB Drive using CMD

To use this command prompt method at first connect your USB to your computer and then follow these steps which are shown below--

After connecting your removable drive click on start button and search cmd. After that, you will find CMD in your search result, then right click on it and then select 'Run as Administrator'.

Create Bootable USB Drive with CMD

Then here will come command prompt window. Now type “diskpart” and then hit enter button to enter into the disk.

Then type “list disk” and press enter. It will list all the disks linked to your laptop including your USB drives.

Note: After pressing enter, you can see in this picture two disks which are Disk 0 and Disk 1. Disk 0 is my hard drive and Disk 1 is my removable drive. If you have a problem to find out which one is a hard drive or which one is a removable drive then you have to see their size, then you can easily recognise.

Then type “select disk 1” and press enter to select your USB drive.

Note: I have selected disk 1 because disk 1 is my USB drive but you will select your disk whatever you will see and be careful whenever you select the disk name, because one wrong input might delete all data from your selected drive.

Then type “clean” and press enter to clean the USB drive, so that you can use the full memory of your removable drive.

Then type “create partition primary” and press enter to make partition into your selected drive. Then here you will see a message will come that Diskpart succeeded in creating the specified partition.

After that type “select partition 1” and hit the enter button to select the USB partition which you have made through the previous command.

Then type “active” and press enter to active the partition which you have selected.

Now type “format fs=fat32 quick“ and press enter to start the format for your drive. It will take few seconds and once completed it will show you a message.

Note: But if you are using “NTFS” file system then type “format fs=ntfs quick“ and then press enter.

After that type “assign” hit the enter button to assign the drive letter, so that you can use it.

Now type “exit” and press enter to exit from disk part.

Now take windows files from formatting disk and save them to a folder in your computer or PC and you just need to make sure that where it is saved. But if you have any ISO or windows 7 image file then you can use daemon tools to open it and save whole content to your computer.

Then type name “E:” (your drive where you have saved) and click enter. Windows files copied to E drive.

Then type “cd w7” and hit enter button.

Note: w7 is the folder name where I have saved the windows files.

Now type “cd boot” and press enter to make your USB drive bootable.

Now type “bootsect.exe/nt60 E:” and press enter. (E is my USB drive)

Then type “exit” and close the CMD window.

After that go to your windows file folder and make sure that there must be boot folder in your Windows 7 folder and also boots executable files available. Now you have to copy the whole windows 7 folder into your USB drive.

CMD or command prompt is one of the best, secure and reliable methods. But, you just have seen how much time it will take to do. So, I suggest better to do it with a software. The procedure is given below--
