Can someone see that I viewed their Facebook story if we are not friends?

When you post a story publicly on Facebook, it is visible to the users who are not on your friend list too. They can open your story to view it.  But the stories that are not posted publicly, cannot be viewed or are unavailable to be viewed by anybody who’s not on the user’s friend list.

When you’re posting a story publicly, you’ll be able to see the total number of viewers that have seen or viewed the story.

But if you bring up the list of viewers, it will only show you the names of the viewers who are from your friend list. You won’t be able to see the names of the viewers that are not from your friend list as Facebook doesn’t allow you to do so. Their names are kept hidden for privacy reasons and they are counted under Others in the viewers’ list.

The Others are only expressed numerically and they are the viewers who do not belong to your friend list. These Others are usually the ones who follow your profile, Messenger users, or some random stalkers. If you want to limit your stories to be viewed by your friends only, you can change their privacy to Friends from Public
