How To Text Someone Who Blocked You On iPhone?

Is your call not going through? You need to be sure at first, and then we will analyze possible solutions to this.

The first time I started digging into this was when a friend asked me how to tell if he had been blocked on iMessage. He was frustrated, unsure if his messages weren’t going through because of a block or just because the other person was offline.

I shared some simple clues with him to check, such as delivery receipts, call behavior, and FaceTime attempts. But then he asked the more significant question—“What if I really need to send a message?” That’s when I suggested a few options, i.e., using anonymous text services when there’s no mutual connection left.

Now, I will explain the different methods you can try if someone has blocked you on an iPhone.

How to Know if Someone Blocked You on iPhone?

First things first, you must know if someone has blocked you or not. You have to go through several checks:

iMessage Delivery Status:

One of the easiest ways to check if you’ve been blocked is by looking at your iMessage delivery status. If your messages usually show “Delivered” or “Read,” it means you’re not blocked.

But if they suddenly stop showing any status or only display “Not Delivered,” it could mean you’ve been blocked. Keep in mind, though, this can even happen if the other person’s phone is switched off or has no internet connection.

SMS (Green Bubble):

Another clue is when your blue iMessages suddenly turn into green text bubbles. This often means your iMessage is no longer going through to their iPhone.

While this can indicate a block, it might also mean they have switched off iMessage or changed to an Android phone, so it’s not always a sure sign of blocking.

Call Behavior:

The best way is by paying attention to how your calls behave when you try to reach them. If your call rings normally, you’re not blocked.

However, if it goes straight to voicemail(busy tone) after one ring or drops instantly with a blank sound, it’s a strong sign that your number may be blocked. This is one of the clearest indicators, especially if it happens repeatedly.

FaceTime Test:

You can also try FaceTiming them. If the call just never actually rings or drops the call in seconds, that’s another sign of being blocked.

A FaceTime call should normally start ringing right away if the person has internet access and their device is active.

2. Manage Caller ID

When someone blocks your number on an iPhone, the block usually applies to both calls and iMessages. One possible way around this is by hiding your caller ID before making the call.

When you turn off your caller ID in settings, your number won’t appear on the recipient’s screen; instead, it will show up as “Unknown” or “No Caller ID.” This can sometimes bypass the block because the system doesn’t recognize your number as the blocked one.

However, it’s not a guaranteed solution. Many people don’t answer calls from hidden numbers, since they can look suspicious. Still, if it’s important and you want to try, hiding your caller ID can at least give you a chance to get through when your normal calls don’t.

Step 1: First of all, open your iPhone and go to the ‘Settings’ app.

Go to the Phone and swipe left

Step 2: Go to the Phone and swipe left on ‘Show My Caller ID’ & turn off that feature.

disable show caller id option

To hide your caller ID, you can also go for another way: you can also use the relevant code for your country, and in this way, you can prevent your caller ID from being revealed to the person who has blocked you (and from getting blocked again by the person).

3. Ask A Mutual Friend

If you’ve been blocked on iMessage, it’s usually for a reason. This may be a misunderstanding or a personal issue.

Instead of trying to reach out directly, you can ask a trusted mutual friend to step in and talk to the person on your behalf.

They can gently convey your request to be unblocked and help clear up any confusion. After that, it’s up to the other person whether they choose to unblock you or not.

If they do, make sure to handle the conversation carefully and avoid repeating the same mistakes.

4. Send Voicemail (optional)

In some cases, even if you’re blocked on iMessage, your call may still go through to voicemail. If it rings once and then forwards, try leaving a short, polite message

You can also use Skype to make a call or send messages to someone who has blocked you. Skype has three main tabs – Chats, Calls, and Contact.

However, this is a paid method, Skype phone calls are not free and to make a call to a mobile number or landline, you would require some Skype credit or an active subscription.

Skype does offer a one-month free trial to its new users. There are different plans and you can choose according to your requirements. It’s better to go with the Skype credits (starting at $5.90) to use all over the world to send SMS and make calls.

How to call someone who has blocked me on iMessage?

To call someone who just blocked you, you can try using a different number (such as from TextNow or TextFree) or reaching out via other platforms like WhatsApp or Instagram. These methods don’t hack or force communication; these are the simple ways to send a message in case it’s urgent or you’re seeking closure.

You can send messages to the number that has blocked you on iMessage, but the message won’t get delivered to the user. It may appear to you that the message is being sent to the person, but it won’t go to the user’s inbox and will get lost in the system, as you’ve been blocked.

The message will never get seen, and you’ll not get a reply either. Only after the user unblocks you, your message will truly reach their iMessage inbox.

Yes, if your iMessage number is blocked, you can use your Apple ID email address to contact and send emails to the user.  As the user has blocked your iMessage number, it won’t affect your emails from reaching them. Use it to request the user to unblock your iMessage number so that your messages can reach them as usual.

No, if someone has blocked you, your texts won’t go through. It might look like your message was sent, but they won’t see it. You won’t get a “Delivered” notice on iMessage either.

You can try using a different number, like a second phone or a friend’s. Another option is using apps that give you a temporary number.
