Follow the steps below to upload a video in TikTok from the gallery:

Step 1: Open TikTok App

If you want to upload videos on TikTok from the gallery of your device, you would need to start by opening the TikTok application on your device. But before you open it, make sure that the application has been updated to its latest version as outdated versions often experience glitches.

Tap on the + Record icon

After you open the TikTok application, you’ll need to log in to your TikTok account using the correct login credentials. After successfully logging in, you’ll be able to get into the Home tab of TikTok.

On the bottom panel, you’ll be able to see a few icons placed side by side. Click on the + icon which is the Record option of TikTok.

Step 2: Tap on the Square Upload Option

After you click on the Record icon that is sighted as a plus symbol, it will open up the camera screen of the TikTok application. On the camera screen, you’ll be able to see various options related to capturing pictures or shooting videos directly to upload on your TikTok account. It allows you to set a timer, turn on filters, flip your camera frontwards or backward, increase the enhancement of the picture, etc.

Tap on the square upload option

But for this method, you don’t need to work with any of those options. Just beside the capture button, you’ll be able to see a square box under which it says Upload. You’ll need to click on the square box to get into the Camera roll of your device.

Step 3: Choose a video from the gallery

When you click the square icon that’s on the right side of the capture button on the camera screen, you’ll be shown your device’s Camera Roll. As for this method, you’re going to upload a pre-recorded video and it needs to be done from the camera roll of your device. Therefore, you’ll be taken to the camera roll of your device from where you’ll need to scroll down and find the recorded video that you want to upload.

Choose a video from the gallery

You’ll get a pop-up message that states that TikTok has recently increased the time limit of the videos that can be uploaded, to ten minutes. Click on Ok

On the Camera roll page, you need to get into the Videos section to make it easier for you to find the video that you need to upload as under the All section of TikTok, the pictures and videos are mixed up together.

Step 4: Tap on ‘Next’ and Edit & ‘Post to Story’

After you click on a video to select it, you’ll be taken to a new page where you’ll be able to preview the video. Just at the top right corner of the screen, you’ll find a Next icon. You’ll need to click on the Next icon to move on to the next page.

The video will be processed for a few seconds and you’ll be taken to the next page. It will open up the Edit page of TikTok. From this page, you’ll be able to edit your videos.

The different editing features allow you to edit your videos by adding stickers and text to them. You can also add effects to your videos to make them more visually attractive to the audience.

Filters, voice-overs, and voice effects can also be used in the videos. Next, after you’re done editing your video, you’ll need to click on the Post to Story option that’s in the lower-left corner to add it to your TikTok Story.

How long can a video be uploaded on TikTok from the gallery:

Many users still aren’t aware that TikTok has recently introduced an update that allows users to upload a video for as long as ten minutes. But it has to be either exactly ten minutes or less. You cannot upload videos with a duration of more than ten minutes.

TikTok users originally uploaded videos that had a duration of fifteen seconds which was later extended to one minute so that the creators could incorporate more into one video. However, this feature of a ten-minute TikTok video is only available when you’re using the updated version of the application and not the outdated version.

Furthermore, many users are still not getting the ten-minute video feature on TikTok. If you don’t find it on your app, then you’re using the older version of the feature that isn’t available for your access but it will soon be made available to you too.

Why Won’t TikTok let me Upload a Video from Camera Roll:

There are some reasons why your TikTok videos may be restricted from getting uploaded:

1. Browser or App cache issue

If you’re able to upload a video from the camera roll of your device, it might be because of an app cache issue. Cache data stores the miscellaneous and old files of the app and if you don’t clear the cache data of the app once in a while, it might affect the function and work of the TikTok application.

Therefore, you need to clear the app cache of the TikTok application so that it can function normally. Clearing the app cache won’t affect or delete your account data.

It can be done from the Settings of your app:

🔴 Steps To Follow:

Step 1: Open the Settings app.

Open the Settings app

Step 2: Head on to Applications & notifications.

Applications and Permissions

Step 3: Next, click on App info

click on App Info

Step 4: Then from the list of apps, click on TikTok.

Step 5: You’ll need to click on the Internal Storage option.

Step 6: Then click on the red Clear Cache option.

2. TikTok server is Down

If you’re not able to upload pre-recorded videos on TikTok from the gallery of your device, it might be a server issue. When TikTok is experiencing a server glitch, it’s not only faced by you, but all the TikTok users are facing the same issue. You need to wait for a while until the glitch gets fixed and then try to upload the videos.

Server glitch in the TikTok application is not rare and is often faced by users. When there’s a server glitch some of the features don’t function properly which automatically gets fixed after the server issue goes away.

It’s only a matter of a few minutes to some hours within which the server issue gets fixed automatically by TikTok. You can also try to restart your device and the application to fix the issue and see if it helps.

3. When the Internet is Slow

When you’re unable to upload a TikTok video from a gallery, it can be because of a poor internet connection. If you have a lousy wifi connection then, the issue is probably caused due to it.

Data connection or wifi network needs to be stable when you’re using the TikTok application or else you’ll experience frequent glitches and some of the features may not work properly.  The TikTok application works on a stable data connection and if your connection is not fast, the application won’t function normally and it can take a long time to proceed from one step to another.

Therefore, you can either restart your data connection or switch to a better WiFi network to fix this issue.
